Will Australia win Eurovision 2026?
Australia failed to win its first Eurovision title on Saturday, with Delta Goodrem finishing fourth behind winner Bulgaria. Polymarket’s contract on an Australian victory collapsed from around 25% ahead of the final to 0.05%.
Bulgaria’s Dara won with “Bangaranga,” securing the country’s maiden Eurovision victory. Goodrem’s ballad “Eclipse” captivated audiences but fell short, landing Australia in fourth place and marking another near miss since Australia joined the competition in 2015.
Goodrem had surged into favorite status after her semifinal performance, with Eurovisionworld averaging betting odds giving Australia a 14% chance of winning on Friday. Finland was the pre-final favorite at 38%, but failed to win.
The 2026 contest in Vienna was the smallest since 2003, with only 35 entries after five countries—Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Slovenia, and Iceland—boycotted over Israel’s participation. Israel qualified for the final.
Polymarket’s contract, which had drawn over $4.6 million in total volume, now prices Australia’s chances at effectively zero. The result means another European broadcaster will host the 2027 contest after Bulgaria’s win.
