Noroeste independently reported that Ariadna Montiel said Torres Piña led both the party's own measurements and separate mirror surveys. Torres Piña called for unity among those who had competed in the process and said he would work with other political groups involved in the state assemblies. That pledge matters because an early advantage in a party survey can be diluted if disappointed factions withhold support or pursue other paths before the formal campaign begins. The party's current governor, Alfredo RamÃrez Bedolla, cannot simply hand his successor the office.
The choice also sharpens attention on potential challengers. La Crónica reported that Torres Piña was asked about Grecia Quiroz, the mayor of Uruapan and widow of former mayor Carlos Manzo, and said the risk posed by rivals would become clearer when the constitutional election period begins. He treated other contenders with respect rather than claiming the election had already been settled. A separate ParametrÃa survey reported by the newspaper had Torres Piña ahead of Morón among Morena-aligned aspirants, but an internal preference measure is different from a statewide general-election test. Opposition parties and any independent campaign will have time to organize before voters decide. Michoacán's security concerns and the aftermath of Manzo's killing may also shape the arguments candidates bring to the public.

That is a price set by traders for a future outcome, not a party certificate or a forecast immune to campaign events. The same market lists Quiroz near 15 percent and other candidates far lower, showing how strongly participants reacted to Morena's coordinator choice. For now, the real development is an organizational appointment that gives Torres Piña momentum. The next tests are whether Morena's rivals within the coalition stay united, how the party formalizes its nominee, and whether Quiroz or another challenger can turn local support into a statewide race.
